Sept 2009 

Dear Comrades,   

We need to get together on recruiting new members. We did not have one new member in July. I cannot remember a month that we did not sign up at least one new member. You can run into likely candidates everywhere. I have signed up new members at Walmart, service stations etc. There are a lot of eligible veteran's out there.

If anyone knows a homeless veteran, here is a person to contact. Loa Spain is the Coordinator for the Patriot House for homeless veterans. She is also the Wise County V.A. Representative. If you have any benefit questions she can be reached at 817-800-1619.

The Texas Veterans Land Board and Texas Veteran's Commission will have benefit fair at the Amon Carter Exhibit Building on Saturday, Aug 29th from 10 AM to 1 PM. All veterans are invited. For information call 800-252-VETS.

The Post will have a benefit for the Larry Cowden family on Sunday, September 6th. Entertainment will be provided by the Texas Traditions, the band that played at our Post about a month ago. We will have a fish fry starting at 4 PM and the band will start at 7 PM. Some of you know that Larry recently retired and that Rhonda has been undergoing dialysis and been in and out of the hospital for the last couple of months. I hope that everyone can come out for a good time and help support one of our long time comrades and officer of the Post.

President's Comments:
Sept 2009 

Dear Sisters,   

 We're off to a great start this year! We have a cancer aide and research dinner and an Americanism Project coming 18 September at 6 PM. We will have BBQ sandwiches and a POW table set up.

We have a beautiful throw donated by Bill Taylor to auction off for the Cowden Family Benefit on September 6th.

September 11th at 9 AM we will have a ceremony to honor those lost on 09/11/01. Help us remember those who sacrificed.

Remember to order your bricks for the garden ASAP.

September 19th the Fort Worth Angler's Club has their Annual Kid's Day Out. Please get involved with this great event.

The Kiowa Casino trip is September 26th. Sign up now!

We now have a Wii Game. We're looking to start a bowling league and tournaments.

September is going to be busy so let's all get together and join in to make it a great month here at the VFW.
